Erasmus+ Integral

Women empowerment

  1. Erasmus+ Integral

Welcome to our innovative project group

Within the EU, every second migrant and every third refugee are female. They face greater integration, inclusion challenges and barriers than their male counterparts. Specifically, according to OECD and CeFiSo, refugee and migrant women:

  • face various forms of abuse in their countries of origin, during their journey and in the destination country
  • are discriminated against and marginalized due to the gender norms within their culture
  • experience inadequate and inequitable integration initiatives focusing on refugee and migrant women's learning needs and family standards
  • face educational gaps both in their country of origin and the host country, leading to having lower skills levels than men
  • are traditionally confronted with childcare and household duties and usually have little support provided by the host country during their integration progress

Erasmus+ Integral addresses challenges with innovatives activities

Our objective is to raise awareness of the challenges and barriers of the target group paving the way for further synergies, partnerships, and open networks.

Women will

  • access tailored learning opportunities and acquire digital competencies and English communication skills
  • receive psycho-social support and feel integrated and included in the host communities, and embrace European values

Our Activities

English communication course by Irida Women's center

Content of the proposed activity:

  • one six-month course on English communication skills covering writing, speaking, and listening skills, allowing the project’s participants to obtain a good command and understanding of the language and reach B1/B2 level of proficiency, with the main focus on grammar and vocabulary
  • including sessions dedicated to helping women to develop storytelling skills to share their stories and raise awareness on the challenges and barriers they face
  • containing sessions of mental health and psycho-social support to empower them and heal the trauma of displacement
  • cultivating relationships and bonds among the participants in a diverse and multicultural environment within an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect

Digital Competencies Training by Irida Women's Center (Greece)

Workshops on European Identity, Values and Active Citizenship by TAGGREEN

Content of the proposed activity:

  • conducting a series of two workshops with theoretical and practical aspects aiming to introduce to the target group the concept of the European identity, European values, and active citizenship and the role of Erasmus+ in promoting and advancing them
  • enhancing European values to a marginalized group of individuals with fewer opportunities for integration and inclusion, limited access to their social rights
  • boosting the integration and inclusion of another equally vulnerable group: refugee children. Women who are usually the main
caregivers tend to be better able to facilitate and invest in their children’s integration when they feel included in the host community
  • development of a booklet on European identity, values, and traits of an active citizen for migrant women with tips and good practices
